As the rain-soaked winds howled and whipped dangerously around, Yeshua slept. As the waves thrashed, filling the boat, threatened to overturn the fishing vessel at any moment, Yeshua slept. As the disciples panicked and feared for their lives, Jesus lay in calm and complete serenity.
But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” -Mark 4:38
Right now in the world, the wind and waves are a terrible sight to behold. Christians who stick to biblical beliefs are hated. In many parts of the world, the right to speak the truths from the Bible are threatened. Openly hating Jewish people is the new norm, as seen by the Oscars last night. We even have Jews renouncing their Judaism in an attempt to be accepted.
Today, Israel is seen as the enemy of the world.
Stay calm.
Yeshua taught us how to be during storms. It's time to remember. Despairing and panicking is not the response of someone who knows the King of Kings.
No matter how wrong and crazy things look, we need not be moved.
Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” -Mark 4:39-40
Our hope is not in governments, celebrities, popularity, universities, armies or any people or institution. Our hope is in the God, Jesus Christ, in His soon return.
In the meantime, we focus on the work He has given us: to preach the good news that the Messiah of the world has come and what that means to the lost. We cannot do that if we are despairing.
Stay on task. Pray. Read the Word. Abide so deeply in Jesus that you are unmoved by the storms of today. The storm cannot overcome us.
Matthew 16:18 says, "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it."
In the Complete Jewish Bible it says: "I also tell you this: you are Kefa,” [which means ‘Rock,’] “and on this rock I will build my Community, and the gates of Sh’ol will not overcome it."
Speak to the storms in your life. Speak to the ones you see in the world. Pray in Yeshua's name. We will not be overcome.
And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!” -Mark 4:41
In John 16:33, Yeshua told us that in this world we would have trouble, but to not fear, because He has overcome the world.
It doesn't matter which latest celebrity hates Israel, Jewish people, or Christians. It doesn't matter what the government tries to do. Jesus is King. He already won.
At a time when many are turning away and adopting the ways and opinion of the world, you are the remnant.
Is there a higher blessing? Jesus had only two responses to storms: complete peace and silencing them. Let's follow our King.
With the love of Yeshua,
Remnant of Zion
